Alice was my first show at the Bethel, and I have loved every minute of it. I’ve acted in a couple of shows at school before, and I really enjoyed that, but acting at the Bethel has been completely different. Everyone is friendly and helpful, there’s a lot of friendly banter between the cast and the crew, and it all came together to make a brilliant show.
I was nervous going into the auditions, as it was the first time I’d done any acting outside of school. However, I must have done fairly well, as I got the role I auditioned for: Lewis Carroll, the narrator. Getting started with the rehearsals was good fun, but we also had to knuckle down and start working pretty quickly, as the show wasn’t far off. Luckily, we have a brilliant stage crew, two fantastic directors in Ben and Lisa, and a very talented cast, if I do say so myself !!
The first show was nerve-wrecking.
Everything went very well, and it certainly seemed popular with the audience. The crowds got bigger every night, which brought with it a bit of pressure too, but the hard work paid off, and at the end of the day, we all enjoyed ourselves, which is the most important thing really.
Now, we’re getting started with the pantomime, which has been fun so far, although it is slightly weird (for me personally) having adults on stage, as I’ve never had that before. However, I hope, and expect, that the pantomime will be just as good as Alice. Bring on Beauty and the Beast !!
